On September 18, 2013, The Iowa Association of Community Providers proudly announced Betty Marxen as the 2013 IACP Executive of the year award winner. IACP is comprised of over 150 community-based organizations whose mission and core services are consistent with the association. All member organizations provide quality (licensed and accredited) services to children and adults with disabilities. These organizations serve over 100,000 Iowans, employee over 20,000 individuals and contribute nearly $1 billion to the Iowa economy. IACP members do provide services in all 99 Iowa counties. This award is given to an executive who has shown vision and leadership skills, who is involved in the legislative issues and supports and embraces the core values of the association. Being recognized with an IACP Executive Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the Association,
On July 30, 2013, the POI Board of Directors, members, staff, our IACP association professionals and Senator Joni Ernst joined us for our groundbreaking celebration for our future office building.
Since Pursuit of Independence receives Medicaid payments to provide services to our members, we will soon be required to follow the rules of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and develope a better "Compliance Program". Compliance simply means our government does not want to pay a provider for services they did not do correctly, so we need to comply to their rules. An effective compliance program should reduce our exposure to penalties and liability issues and help make us a better agency by identifying risk areas. Attorney Gary Jones, through the Midwest Compliance Associates, has started working with our key staff reviewing and tweeking policies. We will soon start training staff and the Board of Directors on the improved compliance plan and I am hopeful we will talk about our progress on this site often!
Welcome to our new web site! We are celebrating our new name too, Pursuit of Independence, formally known as Taylor Ridge Estates. After one year located on Main Street in Lenox, IA, we are in the process of building a new office complex for our staff.
Our web site has been a work in progress and we will continue to work to improve the information found on this site, but we need your help. Please let the office know what you would like to see posted.
