About Us

Taylor Ridge Estates, Inc. (TRE) was established in 1991, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Home and Community Based Service (HCBS)  Provider Agency.  In January of 2013 we made the strategic decision to change our name to Pursuit of Independence. In 2014 we built a new office building located at 104 W Ohio St in the center of Lenox.  In April of 2015 we merged with Terrace View Residential in Clarinda, Iowa.  We call the individuals we serve “members”. We serve members in Lenox, Bedford, Clarinda and Creston under the following payment systems;

·         Intellectual Disability (formally the Mental Retardation) Waiver

·         Ill and Handicapped Waiver

·         Physical Disability Waiver

·         Brain Injury Waiver

·         Elderly Waiver

·         Habilitation Services

Each of these funding systems has a separate set of rules for staff to follow to allow us to bill for the services provided. Staff will be trained for each program they are hired for including how to document on each member per the program that they are in. Staff will also be trained to teach Supported Community Living (SCL) to members who desire to be more independent by learning new skills or regaining the skills they have lost through their illness, injury or aging. Whether the member wants ongoing services or has a goal to move onto a higher stage of independence, we advocate for him or her.
